Rangers Edge Amish in Nail-Biter
The Woodland Rangers and the Amish Electricians met up in an epic playoff game that wasn't secured until the final seconds ticked off on Monday Night. In the end the Woodland Rangers beat the Amish Electricians 68-67 to advance to their first League Championship game. The Amish led for most of Sunday and went into the Sunday night game with a 46-15 lead. But the Rangers had a powerful combination of Ezekiel Elliot (RB-DAL), the Dallas OL and the Dallas kicker, along with Cameron Brate (TE-TB). The Amish countered with Dak Prescott (QB-DAL) and two Monday Night players Ron Rivera (HC-CAR) and Greg Olsen (TE-CAR).
With seven minutes left in the fourth quarter the Amish still held a 6 point lead. Then Elliot proved unstoppable for the Bucs and the Rangers double dipped on the rushing yards the whole way down the field. Zek rushed for 76 yards on the last two drives as the Rangers scored 18 more points. Dak did pick up another point, then gave it back on the last play with a two yard kneel down to end at 299 total yards. After Sunday the Rangers were up by 12 and the Amish had a TE and HC to make up the difference.
Throughout Monday night the score inched closer and closer as Greg Olsen slowly netted catches and yards. An additional point toggled back and forth as the Panthers flucated between a 7 and 11 point leads. In the end the combined efforts fell just short and the Rangers held on by a point.
This is the fourth time that a playoff game was decided by a single point. The last time being in 2001, ironically Josh also lost that game, between the Freezer Burn and the Werewolves. But that game, as with the 2000 game between Crusaders and Hempaholics, were both double shutouts that got reset to 1-0. The only other true 1 point game was the 1995 meeting between the Barbarians and the Norsemen. Bobby won that one, 28-27. There have been two championship games that went overtime.
Oh, yeah, there were also two other games this week. The MeggaMen won their fifth stragiht playoff game, 47-11, to advance to their record setting 8th championship game appearance. The Gallic Warriors must wait another year to try and get their first playoff win, they are now 0-3 in the first round. Of course the MeggaMen would have lost to either of the other two playoff teams or to the Toilet Bowl winners, but given their season so far how could it possibly have gone any other way.
In the Toilet Bowl the Pretend I'm Not Here dominated the Sean Taylor's Ashes, 56-0, to earn the number one pick in next year's draft. It will be the third time the Pretend have had the #1 pick and first since 2011. The Pretend are now 2-5 all-time in Toilet Bowls, while Tim falls to 1-2. The Pretend's score would have defeated all four of the playoff teams this week.
