Beavers Lose First Game of the Year

Published: Oct 18, 2017

After starting his ownership with a 5-0 streak, Steve's luck came to an end as the Fightin' Bitin' Beavers met the Sacks on the Beach.  It was almost a must win for the Sacks and they were able to out gameplan the Beavers to pick up a 51-34 victory.  Antonio Brown doubled his score to 38 which was enough to offset Steve's three top players.

With the Beavers finally losing a game, it left an opportunity for the other division teams.  With the MeggaMen and Woodland Rangers meeting, the Rangers could move into a tie, while the MeggaMen could pull back to within a game.  The Rangers gameplanned for Wentz at QB, but Tom mixed it up and went with Brees.  The result was enough of a swing to secure a 36-33 win for the MeggaMen.  It was Tom's 9th straight regular season win over the Rangers, of course Derek did win the game that mattered in the Championship last year.

Over in the Burgundy Division the Norsemen were easily able to hand the Sean Taylor's Ashes their 12th stragiht loss, by a 53-5 score.  At the same time Richard's Lionhearts suffered another shutout defeat, losing to the Crusaders 27-0.  The Lionhearts have had negative QB scores for three straight weeks, totaling -17 points.

Warren has been extremely unlucky this season, ranking fourth in total points and second in power rank, but has only won a single game.  That continued this week as he received a full on beat-down by the Amish Electricians.  Losing 74-23.  Josh is now 7-0-1 vs Warren in the last eight years.

In the final game the Fighting Squirrels evened up the Gold Division with a 39-12 victory over the Gallic Warriors.  It also evens the all-time series between these teams at 24-24-2.  There is now a three way tie atop the Gold Division.

With nine teams at or above .500 there are a lot of clarification games this week.  The 5-1 Beavers take on the Aaron Rodgers-less Crusaders, while the Warriors meet the Sacks.  The Amish will play the Squirrels, while the MeggaMen battle the Norsemen.  Warren tries to salvage his season as he takes on the champion Rangers.  Finally the Lionhearts and the Ashes both try to avoid getting the inside track to the Toilet Bowl.
