Week 1 Featured a Last Minute Win and a Very Last Minute Win

The Sean Taylor's Ashes and Richard Lionhearts met in the season opener for the third straight year.  A completely unintentional scheduling quirk that I didn't realize until right now.  The STA were victorious in the previous two meetings, so Richard was looking to start this season out on the right foot.  Unfortunately, that right foot belonged to Justin Tucker (K-BAL) of the STA.  Going into Monday Night, Richard had a 55-46 lead.  But Tucker slowly whittled away at that lead, so that with a minute left in a tie game, the lead had shrunk to 2.  But the Ravens were driving in a tie game.  With 42 seconds left, Tucker hit a 47 yard field goal to win the game.  Ok, so the Raiders would tie with 7 seconds left to send the game to overtime, then win in overtime, but for our purposes the game was won for Don.  So the STA start 1-0 for the 4th straight season.

In another close divisional game, the Fighting Squirrels met the Trump Molests Collies.  Warren had lost the last three against Brian.  The Squirrels suffered from one of the worst games that Aaron Rodgers (QB-GB) has ever played scored -4 from him, but offset that with a strong 27 by Tyreek Hill (WR-KC).  Going into Sunday night they trailed the TMC 23-14.  Allen Robinson (WR-CHI) for the TMC caught 6 passes but for very little yardage only scoring 2 points.  While David Montgomery (RB-CHI) scored 11.  This left the game tied at 25-25.  With no players playing Monday night this game was over.

Until it wasn't.  As we all know, the NFL regularly makes scoring changes after games are over.  Most often this occurs with tackles, sacks and forced fumbles, that either get credited to a different player or get scored as assisted.  But sometimes we've seen it with yardage changing by one or two yards or who gets fumble lost when it's a botched handoff.  According to our rules the scores are locked in at 8am on Tuesday, but a team can request that score be revised up until Saturday at noon if the NFL issued a scoring change.  (Rule V.A.6.a)  95% of the time these scoring changes have no impact on our final score, but once or twice a year it might.  This game was one of those other cases.  Brian noticed that there were some scoring revisions in that game and as a result requested the scores be updated.  This resulted in three players having their score changed.  One for the Squirrels and two for the TMC.  All were defensive players that had a tackle taken away.  Tracy Walker (DB-DET) for the Squirrels, Eric Kendricks (LB-MIN) and Fred Warner (LB-SF) both for the TMC.  As a result the scores were adjusted and the Squirrels win this game 27-26.  It is Warren's four straight loss to Brian.

In other games, the Amish Electrians looked like they were still suffering a hangover from their Championship party, getting shutout by the Sacks on the Beach, 29-0.  And it wasn't even actually that close.  The Norsemen got 31 from Patrick Mahomes (QB-KC) and dominated the MeggaMen, 77-4.  The MeggaMen did manage 24 from Jalen Hurts (QB-PHI) but the rest of the team was very lackluster.

The Crusaders opened against division rival Gallic Warriors for the fourth straight season.  What the fuck is wrong with this schedule maker?  This time the Crusaders won 63-29.  Finally, the British Bulldogs ended their four game losing streak aginst Testudos Revenge with a 70-43 victory.
