Playoff Races Thrown Into Chaos

Josh Freeman gets sacked while his team loses to the Matt Ryan's Falcons. Ryan would have won the game for the Onanists

Last week could have gone a long way to settle the playoff picture.  Instead it just confused it more.  In the closest game of the week, Warren pulled out a single point victory over the Onanists, who inexplicable opted for Josh Freeman over Matt Ryan.  Final score there 29-28.  In their three meetings Matt has never defeated Warren.  The win is the Whiskey Tango's 7th straight, the franchise's longest since 2007.  When coupled with the Crusaders loss to the Fighting Squirrels, the Whiskey Tango find themselves in the unexpected position of having a chance to close out the division a week early.  That would require them to beat the RCC and the Crusaders to lose or tie vs the Gallic Warriors (or tie the RCC and Crusaders lose).  Any other path will leave the division title to be decided when the two teams meet head-to-head in week 14.

In another critical game the Ravaging Camel Clutch defeated the Werewolves, 69-52, in a game where the RCC had a great Thanksgiving day only to see their lead wittle away on Sunday afternoon and even disappear breifly before a Sunday and Monday night surge to win.  It is Tim's third straight victory over Josh, tied for his longest in their 44 meetings.  Both teams remain firmly in the playoff race and control their own destiny for a playoff berth.

The Norsemen have been barely hanging on for weeks now and continued to do so, surging back behind Cam Newton's 31 on Monday night to beat the Pretend 27-17.  The loss eliminates the Pretend from playoff contention and the Norsemen from the Toilet Bowl.  More importantly for the Norsemen it keeps them in the playoff race and with a very slight shot at the division title.  With their final two games being against the division leading Onanists and Werewolves they will be a major factor in the final two weeks.

Over in the White Division (last again, sorry not on purpose, but there just isn't the drama) the Marc continued his impressive second half to his rookie season, winning his fourth game in the last five, by taking out the MeggaMen, 51-40.  They now remain a game behind the Sacks and set up a critical match-up this week.  The MeggaMen will finish with only their second losing season, but risk going to the Toilet Bowl for the first time.  The Sacks beat the Gallic Warriors, 48-3.

With only two weeks left and eight teams still in the playoff hunt, there are a lot of important games this week.  The Sacks can claim their sixth division title with a win or tie over the Rangers.  A Ranger win however, will make the last week very interesting since that tiebreaker has the potential to go five or six tiebreaks deep.  The Rangers do have a very slim shot at the wild card as well, but they have to win this week or all that is meaningless.  The Pretend play the MeggaMen.  A MeggaMen loss will send their first Toliet Bowl apperance.

The Whiskey Tango could clinch their division with a win over the RCC and a Crusader loss or tie to the Gallic Warriors, or a tie and a Crusader loss.  Any other scenario will play out in the final week.  The Tango will clinch a wild card spot with a win and either a Werewolves or Mansfield Onanist loss.  The Fighting Squirrels will find themselves in the Toilet Bowl with a loss to the Werewolves and a Gallic Warriors win or tie OR a tie and Gallic Warriors win.  Otherwise the Toilet Bowl will be decided in their match-up next week.

The Burgundy division is too complicated to figure out in full.  What we do know is that the Norsemen play the Onansists.  A loss or tie and the Norsemen are out of the playoffs.  They will also be out of the playoffs if the Werewolves win or tie and either the RCC win or tie or the Crusaders win.  They are out of the division with a Werewolves or RCC win or tie.  We also know that the Werewolves clinch a playoff spot with a win.  There are probably other clinching scenarios this week, but these are the easy ones and most will end up going to next week.
