Luck-y Number Seven

Published: Oct 22, 2013

In the seventh game of the season the Fighting Squirrels road Andrew Luck's four touchdowns to a 35-10 victory over the Sacks on the Beach. It lifts the Squirrels to .500 at the mid-point in the season, the first time they have done that since 2009. It ends the Squirrels' five game losing streak to the Sacks and puts them only a game out in the Gold Division. The Sacks find themselves below .500 and on a three game losing streak.

In a battle atop the Gold Division the Gallic Warriors got a strong performance from their linebackers to defeat the Crusaders, 33-26. It moves the Gallic Warriors past the Crusaders into first place in the division. With the tie last week only one game separates first from third. The other team in the division, the Whiskey Tango fell to the Pretend I'm Not Here. Both teams received penalties for activating players on byes but the Pretend outlast due primarily due to Matt Forte. The Pretend extend their record to 5-2 and trail the MeggaMen by only a single game.

The MeggaMen survive their worst performance of the season but edge out a 7 point win against the RCC. That coupled with the Mansfield Onanists shutout loss to the Werewolves drops the lead in the Burgundy Division to 4-3. The Norsemen dominated the Woodland Rangers to make the tie three way. The Norsemen's victory also moves them into first on the power rankings.

5 Things to Keep An Eye on in the second half.

1. The MeggaMen - After losing the Toilet Bowl last year, this team sits with the best record in the league at the mid-point. On pace for the league's first 12 win season in three years. Can they complete the worst to first run?

2. Peyton Manning and the Gallic Warriors - The single season QB record is 348, Manning already sits at 194. The question might not be will he break the record but by how much. And of course Manning's success certainly helps the Gallic Warriors as they attempt to make the playoffs for the first time in 22 years.

3. The Burgundy Division - It's ugly atop that division. The next three weeks all feature games vs two of the teams there. After week 10 the picture may be a bit clearer. ... or not.

4. Joel and Ann Marie - It's been 10 years, 4 Toilet Bowls, 4 names and 3 owners since this franchise made the playoffs. At 5-2 they have the second best record in the league and are sitting in the wild card spot. Can they keep it up?

5. And Warren's Team Still Sucks - The opposite of the MeggaMen, the Whiskey Tango are making a first to worst run. They are 1-6 and for the most part look bad doing it. They only look good when compared to the Woodland Rangers.
