Standing Stay Tight

Arian Foster runs the Whiskey Tango back into the Gold Division race
Published: Oct 22, 2014

The pattern on the season is parity.  Of the six games this week, five saw the team that came into the game with the worse record being victorious.  In the closest of those games, the Whiskey Tango staged a Monday Night comeback behind Arian Foster's 9 points, to win 50-45.  This splits the season series between these two teams for the fourth straight season.  After starting the season with three straight losses, Warren gets his team back to .500 on the season.

The Woodland Rangers climbed out of the White Division cellar by winning back-to-back games for the first time in two seasons.  They defeated the Mandfield Onanists, 26-15.  While the MeggaMen continue to struggle as they lost to Sean Taylor's Ashes, 29-9.  Tom is completely unable to win outside of his division having now lost six straight regular season non-division games.  This win ends Tim's four game losing streak, his longest since the infamous collapse in 2010.

In the only game where the team with a better record won, the 4-2 Pretend I'm Not Here defeated the 1-5 Norsemen, 39-13.  This puts the Pretend in first place at the mid-point and gives Byron a six game losing streak, his longest since the 2002-03 season.  It also leaves Byron at 1-6 mid-way through the season, his worst first half ever.  I guess it was destined to happen eventually when you build your franchise on child abusers and old men with rotten knees.  The Wards are now rolling with a five game winning streak, their longest since taking ownership and the franchises longest since 2005.

The other games saw the Joe Gibbs Good Head fall to the Fighting Squirrels, 34-24, their first lost to the Squirrels since 2009.  Finally, the Sacks handed the Gallic Warriors thier second defeat of the season, 29-5.

Next week features dvision matchup of the Gallic Warriors and Whiskey Tango as well as the Sacks and the Woodland Rangers.  There is also a game between two division leaders (well one is tied), as the Good Head try to avoid being steamrolled by the Pretend.  The Squirrels are looking to prove they belong atop the power rankings as they take on the pitiful Norsemen, they are 32 point favorites.  The Onanists try to keep their division lead as they play the Meggamen and the Sean Taylor's Ashes take on the Crusaders.
