Woodland Rangers Open Off With Big Win

Published: Sep 14, 2016

Derek opened his ownership of the Woodland Rangers off with a dominating 61-1 victory over the Norsemen.  Lead by Brandin Cooks his offense scored 7 touchdowns and his defense posted a solid 41 points.  It marks Rangers first opening week victory since 2013 and their first regular season victory against the Norsemen ever.  His 137 total points is the most scored by that franchise in a game since 2011.

Not far behind the Rangers the Sacks on the Beach scored a total of 135.  Mike's offense totaled 112 with three players going over 20 points.  They defeated the Amish Electricians 93-22, tied for their biggest win over Josh.  The Sacks ran up 54 of those points on Monday night to secure their third straight opening day win.  The Amish have not won in the first week since 2012.

If the week one scores are any indication of how the rest of the season will go, the White Division will be really tough.  The MeggaMen are looking to repeat and got off to an initial start that was a bit closer than they would have liked.  They did beat the Mansfield Onanists 41-35 behind a 32 point performance by Drew Brees.  The MeggaMen have now tied for the longest winning streak in league history at 13 games.  Setting a record next week will pose a challenge as they take on the newly resurgent Woodland Rangers.

The other team in the White Division, the Pretend I'm Not Here didn't have quite the success of the rest of the division as they fell to the Crusaders, 55-6.  The Crusaders have now beat the Pretend in nine of their last eleven meetings.  It's the ninth straight opening day win for Hall.

A divisional match-up in the Gold Division had the Gallic Warriors beating the Fighting Squirrels 49-43.  Both teams had strong QB performances with Jameis Winston picking up 26 for the Warriors and Andrew Luck getting 35 for the Squirrles.  The Gallic Warriors get another division match-up next week against the Crusaders.  While the Squirrels will take on the Pretend.

Finally, Sean Taylor's Ashes got off to the start they needed to defend their division title with a 36-15 over the defending... Toilet Bowl loser Warren.  The Whiskey Tango have now lost 7 straight games.  Tim's four game regular season winning streak is his longest since 2013.  As the only Burgundy Division winning team, Tim starts the season off in first.  He takes on Mike and the Sacks on the Beach next week.  While Warren looks figure out how to win again when he plays Byron's Norsemen.
