Midway Point

It is halfway through the season and the playoff races are starting to take shape.  Every division has a close race that should go deep into the season.  At the same time no one is so far ahead that the teams that haven't seen as much success so far can't turn it around and make a run in the final seven games.

In the Gold Division, the Gallic Warriors hold a single game lead over the Crusaders.  With the Fighting Squirrels trailing by an additional game and half and the Whiskey Tango taking up the rear a game behind that.  The Warriors and Crusaders are both averaging in the high 90s, with the Warriors showing a bit more consistency, ranging between 85 and 115 points.  That could be good or bad for Hall.  If he can find a way to step his points up more regularly he could find an edge.  Most likely this division will come down to their week 12 matchup, but with Tom Brady back the Gallic Warriors will be tough.  But that isn't meant to count out the Squirrels who have struggled to score big, only two times breaking 90, but with a win already over the Crusaders and games against both teams could be poised to be the dark horse here.  Meanwhile, Warren has had a rough season so far and needs to find some magic quickly if he's going to get back into the race or he might be looking at a second staight Toilet Bowl.

The Burgundy Division is somewhat of an enigma.  It certainly doesn't seem as strong as the other two division, but at times the Amish Electricians have been among the best in the league.  But when they aren't clicking they look quite bad.  Good for them though the rest of the division doesn't look too great.  All three teams have put up some good scores but they are few and far between.  With age finally catching up to Byron's team, the Norsemen have struggled to find an identity and have slogged to a .500 record.  Without some changes though it's unlikely they can remain there.  Sean Taylor's Ashes certainly looks like the team that could make a run if their players start living up to what they are capabable of doing.  So far they haven't which is reflected in their 2-5 record.  Finally the Mansfield Onanists started to show some promise but have put up some really rotten scores the past few weeks.  With the schedule being the way it is in this division I expect that it will come down to the full division play in the final two weeks.

Certainly, the most interesting division race this year is the White Division.  The perennial powers of the MeggaMen and Sacks on the Beach finally have a new challenger.  The MeggaMen still hold the league's best record at 6-1, but don't look nearly as good as they did last season and they seem ripe to be picked off.  They have shown that they can still post huge scores, but they haven't been able to do it with any regularity.  A game behind, the Sacks are hit a miss each week.  Their quarterback situation is one where one of them will play well each week it's just a matter of if they can figure out which one it is for that week.  The Sacks and MeggaMen meet this week which could even the division, then again in week 14.  With the new owner for the Woodland Rangers they are a team that has fairly quietly posted some pretty high scores and currently sits on the highest power ranking.  They are two games behind the MeggaMen due to their head-to-head losses, which will hurt them down the stretch.  But except for a couple weeks early in the season they seem to have a pretty solid team that might be able to surprise the leaders in the second half of the season.  Unfortunately, the Pretend I'm Not Here just don't look that good.  They have only scored over 75 one time and typically land in the mid-60s.  They got a big win over the Sacks a couple of weeks ago, but they look like their role going forward will be one of spoiler.  It will be hard for them to make the improvements even to get out of the Toliet Bowl position.

Overall, the second half of the season should be exiciting and it will be interesting to see how it plays out.  Since this is a mid-season update I'll hazard some predictions.
