Sacks Stage Comeback

Published: Dec 06, 2017

The Sacks On The Beach went into Monday night trailing the MeggaMen by 31.  Their receiving duo of Antonio Brown and AJ Green combined for 30 points, coupled with the last second field goal to give Pittsburgh and Tomlin the win propelled them to a 48-45 victory.  The loss eliminates the MeggaMen from the playoffs.  It gave the Sacks a chance to lockup a playoff spot with a Squirrel loss.  The Fighting Squirrels did in fact lose that game to the Norsemen, 56-18.  Alvin Kamara for the Norsemen was game planned to 38 points to ensure the victory.

The Norsemen win keeps them alive for the Burgundy Division title.  Three weeks ago they were a Monday night game away from elimination, now they get a head to head division title game next week with the Amish for the title.  The Amish got destroyed in massive fashion.  Losing to the Crusaders, 132-15.  Alex Smith was game planned up to 68 and Tyreek Hill scored 26.  With the win the Crusaders win a league record 13th division title.

With two of the playoff spots wrapped up, the Fightin' Bitin' Beavers had a chance to grab a third one.  They beat out Warren's team with a 25-0 shutout.  At the same time the Gallic Warriors played Richard's Lionhearts.  The Warriors have had trouble against this franchise, having lost six of thier all-time seven meetings.  That was extended to seven losses this week, as the Lionhearts get their 3th win of the season, 29-8.  The Warriors loss, locks up a playoff spot for the Beavers.

The Lionheart win ensures that Sean Taylor's Ashes will be headed to the Toilet Bowl for the second straight season.  It wouldn't have mattered as Don's team lost to Woodland Rangers, in the first father-son match-up in league history.  The Rangers won 63-33.  It extends the STA's league record non-winning streak to 19 games.  If they don't beat the Lionhearts next week, they will become the first team in league history to go through a season without winning a game.
