The 2019 draft was held on Saturday and was a success.  The Amish Electricans drafted Baker Mayfield (QB-CLE) with the first overall pick.  This was the first QB to be drafted #1 overall since Peyton Manning in 2013.  It was the sixth QB taken with the first pick.

The rest of the first round featured five QBs, four RBs and three WRs being taken.  Overall the total picks by position looks like the following:

Overall there were 192 picks made in 1:15:10.  But it didn't really seem quite so frantic as some past drafts have.  Eight owners were able to join the Hangout and chat during the draft.  One owner drafted from a mail truck, a first for the league.  And of course we had our first person drafting from overseas.

The fastest drafter was Tom who made heavy use of the pre-drafting and only ended up on the clock 1 time, for a grand total of 23 seconds.  Mike was the only other team to not have at least one pick that took over a minute.  His longest pick was 48 seconds and the total for his 15 picks was 2:20.  Josh was also a fast drafter, spending 2:13 on the clock for his 16 picks, over 60% of that was a single pick in the 13th round.

On the other end there was no one that could really be considered a slow drafter.  There were only 11 picks taking over 90 seconds, with the longest being Richard's 9th round pick coming in at 3:06.  The slowest average was Byron at 61.5 seconds a pick, which is understandable given he was delivering mail during some of his selctions.  Everyone else was under 35 seconds a pick.

After taking over ownership Adam has decided to rebrand the Beavers the British Bulldogs.  Marking the eighth name in that franchise's history, a league record.

I neglectied to point out on draft day that while no new rules were passed, a rule change was automatically invoked.  As a result of 17 RBs being protected this season the base cost of protecting RBs will increase to 15 points, beginning in 2020.
