Draft Recap
Our regular season will wrap up tonight after the Ravens and the Browns square off – so let’s have a look back at the early rounds of the drafts and see who did well and who flopped. In alphabetical order:
Amish Electricians Kareem Hunt (Rd 2) & Raheem Mostert (Rd 3) – No 1R this year but good solid RB picks for Josh each averaging almost 6 months per game
British Bulldogs Chris Carson (Rd 1), Courtland Sutton (Rd 2) & Devin Singletary (Rd 3) – Carson was good when he was fit but Bulldogs got unlucky with a Week 1 Sutton injury and Singletary disappointed – splitting minutes with Moss.
Crusaders Russell Wilson (Rd 1), Devante Parker (Rd 2) & Darren Waller (Rd 3) – Great QB pick by Crusaders with Wilson being consistent and high scoring and fit all season. Waller is the 2nd best TE this season and will be 1R if not protected next year. Parker has disappointed a bit….but overall a good roster
Fighting Squirrels Clyde Edwards Helaire (Rd 1), Cooper Kupp (Rd 2) & Antonio Gibson (Rd 3) – Drafting 1st and CEH hasn’t delivered as maybe hoped. Gibson was a great pick in round 3 and might be ahead of CEH in a protection matchup (??). Cupp was a solid Rd 2 pick
Gallic Warriors Mike Evans (Rd 1), D’Andre Swift (Rd 2) & Austin Hooper (Rd 3) – Evans has had a solid season about 7 points per game and Swift has shown flashes but tough not being the main Lions RB until the end of the season. Hooper has disappointed
MeggaMen Zach Ertz (Rd 1), DJ Chark (Rd 2) & Matt Stafford (Rd 3) - These picks have not aged well. The Ertz injury scuppered the Meggamen early, Matt Stafford got COVID and has been fine (but was traded mid season) and Chark struggled with the lack of quality in the Jags QB room.
Norsemen Robert Woods (Rd 1), Tyler Lockett (Rd 1), Nick Bosa (Rd 3) – Two round 1 picks for Byron and they both did well averaging 8 points per game. Bosa had injury problems all year
Richard’s Lionhearts Odell Beckham (Rd 1), Minkah Fitzpatrick (Rd 2), David Johnson (Rd 3), TY Hilton (Rd 3) – Was Fitzpatrick a good 2nd round pick…..hmmmm probably at 7 points a game maybe not. But he was the best of the 4 with Beckham (traded), Hilton and Johnson all being disappointing.
Sacks on the Beach Leonard Fournette (Rd 1), Cam Akers (Rd 2) & Carson Wentz (Rd 3) – Well Fournette and Wentz were both dropped this week so that should say a lot…..and reversibly Akers had his best game this week.
Sean Taylor’s Ashes Adam Thielen (Rd 1), Mark Ingram (Rd 2) & Jarvis Landry (Rd 3) – Adam Thielen was an absolute stella pick at pick 3. Landry and Ingram both underwhelmed in their respective teams
Testudos Revenge Jonathan Taylor (Rd 1), JK Dobbins (Rd 2) & Chase Young (Rd 3) – Taylor and Dobbins both showed flashes but sometimes got buried in their teams extensive RB rooms. Interesting if either gets protected. Chase Young only scored 3.5 points per game (before this week) but its quality
Trump Molests Collies Allen Robinson (Rd 1), DK Metcalf (Rd 2) & Tyler Boyd (Rd 3) – three very nice picks – Metcalf in Round 2 an absolute steal. Great draft and shows with their high overall WR ranking.
